The United States Constitution was intentionally written to restrict the powers available to government, with all other powers being reserved to the people. That’s how it should be. The people should retain the right to do WHATEVER it is they choose so long as it does not violate the rights of another citizen. Period.
Essentially, this means there should be no such thing as a “victim-less crime”. How many millions of tax payer dollars would this country save if “law enforcement” was NOT constantly “cashing in” on the people for “fabricated crimes”, “menial regulations”, and “opinionated restrictions”? All of which are instituted purely for “revenue enhancement” or “power acquisition” and is NEVER about safety. How many resources could be far better utilized if individuals would worry more about their OWN behavior and let others do as they choose? How much greater would this country be if we were truly free?
However, lets be clear. The United States is NOT a Democracy. The United States was founded as a Constitutional Republic. The difference between these two is significant. In a Democracy, the majority rules, regardless of how ignorant they are. In a Constitutional Republic, the minorities rights are protected even from the ignorance of the majority.
